Year, Model & Trim Level
'00 EB
I recently bought a '00 eddie bauer and am looking to make it look a bit better than stock.

Im trying to spend about 1000 on a small lift and some tires, possibly more.

Is there anyway to change the gold trim and bumpers to black...??

Sorry for the bad post, did it on my phone.

Awesome site by the way

The hole point of an EB is that all have that colored trip, if you were to change it, IMO it would loose some of it meaning and look like a lower end model but thats just how I feel about it.:salute:

One of the things that has always put me off of the EB is the gold trim and the absurd fender flares. The flares make Explorers look "fat"... especially with stock wheel backspacing. The only way to get rid of it is to put something over it. If you're looking at lifts, my guess is that you plan to do some offroading. Others have had great success with coating trim pieces with Herculiner roll in bedliner. It's durable and it looks tough. You could also consider having the pieces repainted to match the main color of the body... or black. Black always looks good, lol. I think some aftermarket wheels with less backspacing would really set it off once you wrap some bigger rubber on them. Meanwhile, for affordable lifts, you have a few options. You can adjust your torsion bars up front, install an add-a-leaf in the back, or shackle the back. (I personally don't like shackles because they look stupid, but that's just me.) You could also install a body lift. At $1000, you're going to need to do all of the work yourself if you plan to buy wheels/tires too. If it was me, I'd save a little more if my heart was set on a lift. Either that or you can lift it and drive around on stockers until you have the dough for new wheels/tires. Post some pics! We'll corrupt you in due time.
