I heard a scraping coming from my front wheels and I figured it was time to change the pads, so i took them off but they looked fine. I put them back on but now the scraping is worse.

Has anyone run into this?

Thanks.

Its probably your wheel bearing/hub assmeblies or your ball joints.. To verify your problem, jack the front end up and grab the tire at the 6 & 12 position and check for play. If there is no play there, then grab the wheel at the 3 & 9 position and try to push the tire in. If there is significant play then the hub assemblies/wheel bearing are bad.

i didnt find any significant play. the wheel did move from 9 and 3 but i think it was more steering then wiggle.

i think you still might be right about the bearing though. There has been a vibration coming from that wheel for some time.

what is entailed with replacing the bearing?

Thanks

How do your rotors look? Are they grooved? If your pads were worn to the point of creating a scraping noise, you should see some damage to the rotor.

Is this a four wheel drive, or two wheel drive truck?

If you jack up the front tire and rotate it, can you hear any noise or feel any rough spots?
