2000 explorer sport erratic idling

I just got this car 3 days ago and this isn't much of a problem just an annoyance. when I am idling I notice the interior lights on the radio and dash to flicker a bit. This goes away once I begin driving again. Another issue is that the truck will idle at 600ish RPM and then all of a sudden dip to about 500 then jump to 1000 and go back to 600.

it's a 2000 ford explorer sport 4.0

Have your battery tested first. Also check ALL connections and the alternator.

which 4L? sohc motors tend to do this when the lower intake o rings are dried up, and need replacing.
