2000 ford ranger tranny swap issues

Hi guys, Im swapping a blown ford ranger tranny w/ a 3.0 flex fuel engine with a 1999 ranger with the same drivetrain. The 99 tranny is 3/4 of an inch off and i cant get the tranny all the way in. I thought it might be the input shaft, but im also leaning towards the torque converter. I am using the 99 torque converter because the 2000's converter is shot. Any help?

I had the same problem years ago in a Chevy. I did not have the torque convertor splines lined up. Jiggle ( rotate) the torque converter back and forth, and do not force anything. I hope this works.
