This car with 103,000 miles on occasion will turn over but not fire at all when cold. All I have to do to get it to start, however, is just pump the gas peddle very quickly...like we did in the old days sometimes when we had carburetor problems. It will start firing immediately and then spin right up. Any idea what could be going on?

The Check Engine light does not come on. I live at 5000 feet elevation in Colorado. The fuel filter is less than 15,000 miles old, the injectors have not been cleaned in quite a while. I have cleaned the mass air flow sensor and the spark plugs and wires are new. The car runs like a top the rest of the time and I have not had the problem when the car is warmed up.

Any logical ideas would be appreciated.

Mine does this if I have short-run it last.

i.e. left it outside, drove it 30ft into the garage, and shut it down.

Next morning, it's a bear to start.

Try turning the key to on, not to start, then back off, then on and to start. If that helps then you likely have a fuel issue. Good luck,
