My 4x4 will shift from hi to low and back but it will not shift back to auto. the front tranfer cas stays engaged. Please help.

try puttin it in auto, and then shut the truck off and disconnect the battery for 10 minutes

Your trucks transfercase is always in 4X4 position, what actually engages in the transfer case to drive the front end is an electronic clutch, when you put it in High it supplies full power to that clutch so your in 4X4 same in auto mode when a wheel slips power is sent to that clutch to engage the front end but will then is suppose to disengage. Hope I explained clear enough.

Does the light stay on when you switch to auto, or does the light go out but the driveline still binds up when cornering?
