2000 Rear Hatch On 1997 Explorer

Will a rear hatch off of a 2000 explorer fit on a 1997 model if so what has to be done to change this out??

i think there was a thread on this a while back.

the door handles are in a different spot and i think there is some rewireing that needs to be done.

You need the matching 98-01 bumper, and the wiring is mainly about the license plate lights. Compare the hatch wiring harnesses before you geyt to deep into it, it's possible that some of one harness will be better than using the installed harness. Ford moved some of the power and ground wiring between years. I installed 97 wiring into my 93 hatch so I could use the compatible 97 wiper motor and 99 truck wiring. Post up any differences you find, you/we can figure it out. Good luck,
