Noob to Explorers, but long-time Ranger owner. (~300k on a Vulcan V6)

I just picked up a 2000 SOHC XLT truck that I am in the process of rebuilding. It is in need of a Radiator, amongst other things. It holds fluid, and the temp gauge doesn't budge, but I am planning on putting some miles on it, and want it to be reliable. I can see only 2-3 drops of antifreeze coming from the lower passenger side corner (it was hit there) after the truck has been running for 10-15 minutes. It doesn't leak if the truck is not running, so I know the puncture is very small. I realize that I could throw some stop leak in it and band aid it, but that's not the way I like doing things.

My question is that since the Ford replacement is so expensive, I am curious as to anyone having great success with an aftermarket upgrade/OEM equivalent radiator. I know these engines are susceptible to head problems if overheated, so I want to make sure I keep it as cool or cooler than factory.

Any help is appreciated.

OEM is always your best bet.

Aftermarket stuff tends to be hit and miss. Some times rock solid, some times a turd with a reb bow.

That is what I was afraid of. I know that aftermarket parts for imports are generally of OEM or better quality, but I have not found that to be true with domestics.

Any leads to a wholesaler, online or otherwise, because the two geographically closest dealers quoted me $900 and $1000 for a complete front bumper assembly; and I don't think my heart can take much more of that at the moment.

one of the sponcers of this site. Ford Parts Network. Poke around, their banner pops up here or there. Tell them EF send you.

FYI the aftermarket radiator my shop uses the most often is Keystone. Some times good some times bad. They have shops nationwide.

Awesome. I'll definately check into it.

Anyone ever heard of radiator.com? They priced me a couple of different prices on (supposedly)OEM radiators, but said that they show 2 different size radiators for my vehicle?? I've not ran into this ANYWHERE else.

Just called a local CarQuest... They want $250 for a Modine. (Modine is an EXCELLENT brand.... great quality stuff.... I've used three of them in assorted vehicles over the years.... quality stuff!!)

Thanks. I'll definately make a note of that too.
