2000 to 1997 body swap

I've rolled my 2000 mountaineer recently and luckily was able to buy a perfect 1997 mountaineer without a motor.What I need to know is what all I need to unhook to do a body swap. I am going to swap out the entire dash as well to keep my same VIN# and milage.My motor and tranny and 4 wheel drive is all in good shape its just the body I messed up.If anyone knows and can help me out with some heads up info I would appreciate it thanks,titenn.:roll:

Well I could be wrong but I believe that in Texas what you are wanting to do would be against the law. Switching VIN's is what car thieves do. I would suggest you check with your local DMV office first. Think about it....if you do this and then sell it as a 2000 the body is really a 1997 and that is fraud and if you sell it as a 1997 the VIN goes to a 2000.

Well here in the Ozarks we call it a rebuild !!!! I have both clear titles in my hand, and I'm not afraid to use them both to build one good one.Fraud is when you deceive someone ,by being dishonest . I am not that way at all.I don't plan on selling this ride anyway but I do plan on getting it back on the road again. Thanks for your concern about my integrity .I was only asking for help not negativity ,think positive and be somebody!!!
