Been trying to figure out what's w/ in-laws Explorer 4.0 V6. Has popped trouble codes 0174,0171,0301,0302,0303. Replaced MAF, EGR pressure sensor, IAC, plugs, wires. Sniffed for vacum leaks w/ propane. Sometimes it runs O.K, sometimes like crap, especially at highway speeds. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Possible that the air intake hoses are dry-rotting and collapsing on themselves. Had it happen with my 99 XLT and I ended up replacing a hose in the back of the engine compartment. Relatively easy fix and it mostly solved my low idle/stalling problem. Still low idles once in a blue moon, but doesn't stall anymore. Probably another funked up hose. Anyway, check to see if any of the hoses are really soft. A propane test probably wouldn't find this problem. Anyway, good luck and this is just an idea from my experiences with my XLT.
