I just took my vehicle for it's yearly NY State Inspection. The technician stated that my SUV didn't pass because of the Parking Brake not holding the vehicle in place. What is the procedure to adjust my emergency brake? I am a retired mechanics son and pretty handy with wrenches... any help would be great!!!:exp:

I'm sorry this isn't related to your post but would you happen to know a Karl Lander? A once very successful Junior trapshooter that lives in Mt. Morris. I went there once to the club that he shoots at...used to hang out with him at tournaments.

Sorry if this sounds completely random and stupid haha.

They can be adjusted.. it's easier to do it by removing the rear rotors and adjusting from there... The parking brake shoes are also known for coming apart prematurely... If you can do basic brakes, you should have no problem fixing this issue.

You adjust the shoes from access holes in the backing plate just like the old drum brakes. You adjust until there is a very slight drag heard. Do each wheel the same way.

Of course, do this after you've inspected the shoes as suggested and make sure they are in good shape.
