Hi Everyone...
Just picked up a pre-owned 2001 Explorer Sport for the other half (Black/Charcoal) My other vehicle is an 03 4Runner, so I'm looking forward to learning/sharing info on this vehicle as well.

I need to replace the driver side fog lamp (it is shattered) and I'm not having luck at junk yards finding one... The local dealer wants $62 for a replacement. I'm thinking about replacing both of them so the condition of the lenses will be the same. (don't want a new one and a pitted one) Have any of you replaced them with aftermarket lights, but used the stock wiring/switch? What type of light fit best in the bumper opening? If I can't find a good alternative, I'll break down and spend the $120 for new lamps to maintain stock appearance.

Welcome to the site.. You can try http://www.car-part.com and see if you can find someone with one locally. Or just go for some aftermarkets.. I'm sure you could find some on Ebay.

Thanks for the tip! I located the parts, but conditions varied... and some wouldn't bother with shipping. Great source if I need to look for something in the future tho! Since the cost w/ shipping was close, I may as well bite the bullet and get the replacements at my local dealer. I'll have a body shop friend try to get them at wholesale for me.

Welcome to the site!

To use the factory holes with anything higher than 35 watt fog lamps, you need heavy duty wiring installed...

Bryancos, welcome to the site. An O1 Sport is a great vehicle. So do you plan on Modding it? Let me know if you need any info on the O1 Sport I have a little experience with them! Dead Link Removed

Well the Explorer is the other half's daily driver, so I likely won't be doing too many serious mods, other than some cosmetics and a few mild performance mods. The previous owner appears to have taken relatively good care of the rig... haven't spotted any leaks, etc. Plan to drop in a K&N to improve response and bump the mpg -- thought about a full intake, but not sure she'd appreciate the extra noise under the hood. With gas prices soaring, every little mod helps! Picked up a replacement keyless remote on ebay, along with a rear cargo cover that some dealer in NY was clearing out. Would a chip mod be worthwhile? What else would you suggest?

A Chip from Apten is more than worth it. More power, better responce, better shifting. Plust better gas milage (when you keep you foot off the floor!)
