Very nice man. One of the first mods I would do on that sport is get rid of the mono leafs in the rear and replace them with explorer 4 door leaf packs. You will see a big difference in suspension. Also check to see what your Gear ratio is. Its on the drivers side door marked AXLE. Use Ntrprize's spread sheet here to find out what you got to work with.

its got the open 3.73's. I like camping hunting and fishing, but also have to drive alot bc of school, so lift/MT's are out. Will the spring swap cure the rear sag?

Absolutely. The monoleafs are a poor design IMHO. My van has a pair and after 15 years they sag somethin awful. My 4d ex with leaf packs has almost zero sag after 16 years.

Just took a look and it def does not have a monoleaf setup.

Got a pic? If it doesn't have the mono leaf setup then you have three choices to correct sag.

Longer shackles: pretty much a stop-gap measure, because it is still using the original worn spring pack.

Leaf supports: Good for regular duty, but still a stop gap. Better than shackles because you are adding support directly to the leaf.

Add a Leaf: A good long term option. This actually bolts another leaf to your leaf pack increasing its strength.

My 01 has the multi leaf springs from factory and did not have sag
however the factory setting of the front will make front higher.
I just dropped the torsion bars a tad and made it look right.
No cost..
Enjoy!

ya i didnt mean to make it sound like the springs were worn, just that they came like that. I was thinking about messin the torsion bars up front, but i kinda like the front height. Id like to get an intake at some point, possible exhaust as well, but havent found one that sounds right.

I cant find a set of add a leafs for my sport. Can anyone help me with this?

Ive read that you should not put add a leafs on the mono springs as it causes extra pressure on the leaf, although i have seen a few guys on here that have done it. I want to do this as well, but not if it may compromise the strength of the leaf spring. Either way, Summit has a Procomp add a leaf for 35 dollars that the 4 door guys use.

Well yeah, Q- look at your avatar- the springs can't have any wear when the damn thing is never on the ground! :D

Your '01 has multi-leaf rear springs, so it would need the same add-a-leaf kit that the 2nd gen 4dr uses.

My bad, your right, he has a regular multi-leaf pack, not the dumb mono leaf.

I believe this add a leaf will work for your sport, can anyone verify that i am right with this?

that would be the correct one. helped mine a lot when i first got it and put those on about a month later. couldn't handle the sagging rear, lol

thanks just got them ordered

Well over christmas break i got the procomp aal's on and also replaced the lbj's with moog's. The aal made a hell of a difference and now it doesnt have he lazy rear end look. Its been snowing and I think my next step will be to find a posi for the rear end. Whats my best bet to find an affordable setup?

Look for someone parting out an Explorer or F150 with the L/S 31 spline 8.8 rear dif.

I've found quite a few on Craigslist.

Well the stock sub blew so I am in the process of replacing it with a kicker cvr8. Lot more work than I was hoping for, but I think its going to turn out good. Had to modify the box to fit because the depth was about a half inch more. We will see how the end result is.
