2001 Sport Trac
Hi Everyone,

I am new to these forums but have a problem that needs to be fixed. I have a 2001 sporttrac and has just recently had the thermostat housing changed. My problem is that the thermostat is still heating up but I cannot find any coolant leaks. Has anyone else had this issue or does anyone know what I could do to fix this?

Thanks,
Christian

(Update) The temperature really seems to spike when I get moving on the highway at a faster speed. Does anybody have any advice on this issue?

Someone didn't put the thermo in backwards did they?

I'd also look toward a clogged radiator.

Not sure on EX's, but I have seen trapped air in the system cause the same issue in other cars. Might need more info however. How hot does it get? Does temp gauge hit a certain spot and level out at that spot, or does it keep rising? Did you buy this EX recently and you inherited this issue? May seem like strange questions but all details can help eliminate certain possibilities.

She needs a good burp. Pull the thermostat and fill the engine with coolant up to the top, then throw the thermostat in and tighten it up, then top up the lines and the rad. No more air bubble. Happened to me twice, once with the rad, once with the thermostat housing. Remembered to do it properly when I dropped the engine back in after the timing chain swap.
