Look for a sticker on your driver door jamb, then get the code off it.

Yes, using the search feature would probably get you the answer you need with out any hassle from the people that have been here a while. BUT, I will help you since this is your first post. I too have an 01 xls 4x4. Mine came with the 3.73 limited slip. You should check the code located on the drivers side door sticker.

Here are the codes: http://www.explorerforum.com/ntrprize/Axle.htm:cool:

thanks ive been driving explorers for 5yrs 1st one was a 93 and now the 01..but havent messed or modified them besides the body of the 93. with permission of my wife :D im now gonna start lifting and modify the 01..

anyone got the code for a 99 v8 5.0?? I own a 97 v6 4.0 sohc and i already know mine is 3.73 ratio but i bought a used front diff (the 99 v8 5.0) which the dude from the wrecking yard told me it should be 3.73 Can anyone confirm this??

The ratio can not be determined from the engine.

If you have just the front differential, you'll have to count the teeth in the ring gear and pinion gear in order to determine the ratio.

Just read the data off the axle tag (assuming it has one). It'll be pretty clear on there...

i thought front diff's dont have tags only the rear

The front *should* have a tag too... Although it may not... just depends on whether it's been torn apart by the previous owner or not.
