2002 Explorer XLT, approx 110 K miles, ran fine until, fuel injector failed on right rear cylinder, cleaned/replaced injectors, changed the now gasoline contaminated oil and filter, ran fine for about 2 min then loud irregular noises from right front cylinder with heating of intake manifold noted, pulled plug, tip was broken replaced plug happened again, no compression in right front cylinder, all others fine. Pulled head cover, rocker was loose and lifter was banged up, replaced lifter same symptoms recurred. A) What is probably wrong? B) Is it possible to remove right head without removing the engine? C) Given milage etc, what would be the best course of action, finding a used engine or repairing the present one? D) What else needs checked/replaced if I pull the engine? (selling the Explorer isn't an option) Thank you in advance for your help!
