2002 Eddie bauer shiftin hard

Well I just bought it last night from carmax its a 2002 eddie bauer edition exploder with the 4.6 liter. I test drove it and it seemed fine. It has 55k on the clock. I bought it the warranty good for 4 years 48k miles bumper to bumper all for just under $16 with about $2k negative equity from my other car that was junk to me but worth 18k to them. Driving my buddies around and then shiftin into 3rd and 4th was a little too rough. Im hoping to get the trans flushed and hope that takes care of it because I really like the truck and dont wanna give it back but if it is going to give me problems I just might have to. Any ideas or suggestions thanks.

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome aboard. Transmission service by a good shop is the first order of business. A Ford dealer can also tell if your computer can be flashed to help the shifts. I'd advise going to a Ford dealer for the flush and find out if the computer can be flashed. Good luck.

Mine has an occasional rough shift but it does not seem to be getting worse or more frequent. I had my fluid and filter changed by the dealer a while back but it did not seem to make much difference.
