Has anyone done a instrument cluster swap from a Mountaineer to an Explorer?

The Mountaineer gauges look really cool, white face w/silver needles. I have emailed 2 dealers and talked to one local. One says it will work, one says it won't, and one wanted to charge a core charge until I returned my original???

I just wanted to check here because there is that "no return policy" for electrical items.

Thanks

ya i might be interested on doing this also. i got a 96xlt. how much to swap? or for parts?

Jas,

I believe that the 2002 clusters are a tad different than the 95-01 clusters. You may want to look into a 2001 Sport Trac or Sport cluster since they have the silver-white backgrounds with (I think) orange needles.

bump any info on this? I've already got 01 gauges, but im seriously considering this if it works b/c these gauges are just a beaut!

edit...i realize i would have to have the dealer to flash my miles or something since its digital...maybe i should just keep a 01 sport trac gauges...i think the digital part of this would be quite complicated...
