i dont have a code reader for abs codes
but the abs light comes on after i hit about 40 mph
i also noticed now that i can spin the rear tires without it going into 4wd

so im thinking that it is proably a rear wheel speed sensor

so would getting a new sensor be the cheapest easiest way to go about things

If possible i would go to local automotive store and scan it.Its often free.

depends on the store, some of them have new scanners that they don't know how to use. Some scanners have ABS module (that needs to be selected) to enable reading of ABS codes.

It's going to be expensive throwing parts at it if the fault code is not known. It's ok if you're right the first time.

Go to advanced auto parts they will scan it for you

both advanced and autozone in green bay say they cant
but then again thats from the idiots they hire that cant speak engish

Lol well I am a manager at advanced and I know that is be of the many free services we offer

well then i guess its just becuase the darn parts jockies here dont speak english and they dont understand what i want
i very broken english i was told he could only read engine codes

so needless to say when i buy the part it wont be from advnaced or from autozone being they cant speak english

Regarding reading out of the codes. This thread explains the issue I ran into.

i seem to have this same exact problem. its off when i start it but when i start to drive it comes on.

Does the scanguage read the abs codes? that would be awesome since its hooked up to my truck 24/7..

can it be something as just a dirty sensor?

well i got lucky with this
this morning i had to go pickup one of our work trucks that had some service work done on it
the shop owner knew i would need it before he would be open today
so he told me to just drop the keys to my pov in the drop box and he would get it over to our office during the day
he saw the light come on went back and scanned it
looks like i will be replaceing the front wheel hubs as both front sensor are not reading
as the sensors alone are 100 bucks each or 125 each for new hubs with the sensors

Haha i can tell you stories about autozone in green bay, lol

my buddies went there looking for a fog light for his volvo, (rear foglight)
the guy there said he had never heard of a rear fog light in 20 years of experience, they left there laughing their a$$es off.

i hate haveing to go to town to get parts
as most of them in green bay are a joke
more often then not i hope i can get by and just order parts online

on which side of town do you usually go to?

ahh ok, I live just within the city limits on the west side. It seems the autozone and advanced auto is a little better on the west side of town, the east side just has a greater inner city feel, and it shows in businesses like that.

you know not figureing in the cost of going to town to get a part. i orderd plugs wires and a fuel filter for my kids rio for less then what they wated for just wires and the fuel filter and that included priorty shipping.
