- 2002 Sport Manual Trans
Alright, I wanted a 2001-2003 Explorer Sport 5-spd manual with 4x4. I found the only stick explorer within 200 miles of my house. I bought it, because it test drove fine. They took my old explorer(94 5-spd that wouldn't pass inspection) gave me $500 for it, and I got this one for $6500 after the trade, and it only has 52k miles on it. I drove it home 100 miles in a snowstorm in 4 wheel drive, and had no problems whatsoever. This was 1 week ago. I got a loan, and I have not yet sent them the check, because a few issues have come up. The transmission will grind going into third gear when it gets hot. Not every time, and not predictably, but it will grind every now and then. Now it is making a horrible noise from the front end(grinding/banging) and I can tell there is resistence against me pulling out sometimes.
Overall my question is:
Do I keep the explorer and fix the problems, or do I take it back and not pay them?
Also, the next closest manual explorer/sport trac is 500 miles away.
They said I could bring it back if I wasn't satisfied before I drove it home.
Let me know what you think. Keep in mind, they are saying there is no warranty on this vehicle.
