I have a 2002 Ford Explorer. When I came out of work my back drivers side tire was flat. We jacked the car up and removed the nuts but the tire will not come off the rim. We have tried everything. Any ideas as to why the tire will not come off? Or any ideas of what we can do to get it off?

I think that you mean that the tire will not come off of the hub even if the lugs have been removed. In that case, I would try tapping the inside of the rim with a hammer (not hard since it is on a jack), or try lowering the jack to put some of the vehicles weight on the wheel. Good luck.

Thanks. We did try hitting it from behind and also lowering it down and it still didn't work.

You're gonna have to pry it off... spray some penetrating oil around the studs and the hub also.

Thank you for your help. We were finally able to get it off.

yeah this seems to be a common problem when ford puts aluminum wheels on with steel rotors behind it, i usualy just get behind it and give it a good kick

Yup, time to break out the BFH. give it some good whacks around the bead (where the tire meets the rim) but becareful not to damage anything, aluminum rims are soft. If that doesn't help get your hands on a bernzo and heat up the center of the rim, that should help.
