I got the clips off, but cannot pull off the hose on each end to save my life. I think if I try any harder I'm going to break something. Whats the trick?
There is no trick except that the fuel lines are held in place by garter springs which require a fuel line disconnect tool. See the Fuel filter removal thread with lots of good info and pics detailing how to remove the filter... BTW welcome to the site and don't be afraid to use the search feature to find any info you need.
Dumb(?) Where do I get fuel filter tool? On labor day!
Thanks, I spend hours researching things for my new explorer, but there's only so much time I can spend working on it and researching and chasing 5 kids around in one weekend. This site is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I hope tomorrow I be able to complete what I had planned for this weekend.
Kragen sells that stupid set for $14.06 , but yes once you buy it it comes out easily... i tried to simulate what the part does, i just couldn't get it to work
I've always had much better luck with the cheap plastic tool.... slip it over the line, pop it into the fitting, then push both halves TOGETHER first, then pull them apart. They either fall apart, or are a complete pain in the arse.... there's no middle road with them.
