Hello,

I just had the engine replaced after throwing a rod and also needed some transmission bushing work. The mechanic linked the power window issue to a dead battery. I have replaced the battery and all the fuses under the hood checked okay.

After checking the fuses now the a/c dosen't work? I am planning a family trip on Thursday, and will put the truck on the road....Help!

Power windows still don't work....Re-checked fuses, a/c now works normally. Mechanic fixed the horn, but stated power window issue may be due to a relay switch.

I thouht my pasenger window went today, I was just hitting the wrong button lol.

I hope you can get this sorted out before travel.

This sounds really, really odd, and having a 2002 Limited since new (May 2002) and having been coming to this site since before then (had a '97 also), I have never heard of symptoms that match yours, or not that I can recall, anyway.

I am assuming that all the electricals worked fine before the engine and tranny work, therefore, I am led to suspect that perhaps the wiring bundles under the hood were subjected to stresses during engine/tranny removal/reinstallation. I would start by looking into this possibility.

Question: what caused the engine to barf up a rod?? I have heard of the timing chain issue, and even the blown spark plug bosses, but have never heard of the 4.6 tossing rods (stock that is).

Good Luck.

Good call on the spark plugs...I think that was the initial cause. Just replaced the bank 1 o2 sensor and think its running much better. Dealer thinks maybe the power window main switch could be bad, since none of the windows are working.

Open the boot inbetween the door and the truck and check for any broken wires. Lots of electrical problems can be traced to wires breaking in their. I once had no passenger window, The rear passenger would go down but not up, and The driver window quit at the same time. Went in and fixed te wires and all was good again. Give it a shot because it is the most commom problem.
