I've got a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer, and the A/C clutch isn't engaging. I pulled the relay and jumped 12 volts to the 1 and 2 pins, and the solenoid does pick up. I checked to make sure that I've got control power for the solenoid from the #37 fuse to the #1 pin on the relay as well as well as constant power from the #10 fuse to the #3 pin on the relay for the clutch when the solenoid does pick up. That said, it seems like I'm not getting the output from the PCM to the #2 pin on the relay. Any ideas as to how to check that without ripping into the wiring harness?
Side note, would it be a safe test to jumper the #3 and #5 pins in the relay box and start the car to check to see if the clutch picks up when power is jumped to it?
Thanks in advance,
Ryan
