2002 Sport Trac Front End Noise

I have a 2002 Sport Trac with 4WD and 172000 miles. When I make a tight left turn, slow speed, I hear a recurring loud pop like something is binding and then breaking loose. Whats up?

I have the same thing, 2002 4WD ST 179,000mi, on my daily commute home from work I have to make a 90 degree left turn (starting from a stop) then immediately make a 90 degree right turn. I usually, though not every day, get a loud pop. However, I always thought mine was coming from the rear end.

Sounds like lower ball joints. Slightly lift the tires off the ground with jack stands under the front facing LCA "hooks" and inspect.
