2002 V6 Gas Mileage

I have a 2002 Eddie Bauer 4.0L 4x4 with about 3,500 miles. I am somewhat dissapointed with the gas mileage. The sticker claims 15 mpg city and 20 mpg highway. I'm getting about 12-13 around town and about 17-18 on the highway, which isn't much below what the sticker says. However, it's been my experience that the mpg quoted on the stickers are usually easy to beat, especially considering that I am not driving (accelerating) aggressively because I am so aware of the mileage. Has anyone else experienced similar results? The dealer agrees that this seems low, but is unable to correct it.

Sounds about right. Search for Gas Milage and you can read all the posts with everyone chiming in on what they get. Also, yours is still new. Give it alittle while to break in and it might improve.

Your mileage will definately improve a bit with age. It's like a fine wine Most engines take about 10k miles to break in fully. Honestly, your figures aren't too far under the mark to be of major concern.

Also, with trucks, generally the sticker figure is a bit high.
