2002 V8 Possible Transmission Problem?

First of all, my Explorer is an automatic, and when I'm driving, and the car switches between 2 and into 3, the RPMS will not change when it should go into 3rd. For example, I'll be driving down my street, starting in 1st, my RPMS will usually reach 2,000 then change into 2nd, and then once it gets to 2250 RPMS it will just "freeze" and not switch gears unless I let off on the gas, or after about 7 seconds. Does anyone know why?

Not from what I can tell, there should be no light while driving normally, correct?

Depending on which trans you have 5R55w or 5R55S it could be band or servo piston problem.

How would I find out what kind of transmission do I have?
