2002 XLT 4.0 SOHC Rough Idle

I just had it done and I can say ditto everything you just wrote. This is after driving it the 1 mile back from the dealership. I recommend anyone having the rough idle issue get this upgrade. Thanks for giving me the idea. Finally something I tried actually made a difference. I felt like I was tossing a $100 bill out the window every time I attempted another shot at fixing this.

Excellent:thumbsup:

I will make a new thread about the flash and post this new version up.

Your welcome:salute:

I have a 05 and the idle is slightly rough at intervals..you can see the motor shimmy sometimes...so if you take it in to the dealership, do they just plug up to the ecm or w/e and flash it?

My final confirmation that the flash made a difference came last night. My wife always sits with my daughter in the back of the truck. While driving she said that the truck seems to running better. I guess the she is not hearing the revving, and engine sounding wheezy. The shakes have lessened a lot. So the wifey meter confirmed the new flash making a difference...lol

Yep...that is it. They connect to the OBD II and flash it.

Been driving her for couple of days now and she is running nice. I had a pretty shaky idle. You could feel when the truck was in park or drive and stopped. I honestly can say it feels better.
I am hoping the new flash will get me some better mileage..LOL
She feels better under foot.

I will update more in week or so during 2 more tank refills (to see if mileage has changed). I have been driving the same route everyday. I have all my mileage logged so far.

Have you noticed your mileage improve?

I will be able to tell you within the next day or two. I wanted to run one tank on the same exact route I do everyday to and from my daughters school. It is mixed local streets with a 2 miles of highway.

I will keep you posted.

The truck feels very strong when I accelerate IMO. She is running better than ever. Again this is still with some shake, but FAR less than before.

My 2001 Explorer 4.0L SOHC 4x4 shakes at 4000 rpm and dies out after putting into gear. Can I get some help?
