Greetings All!

Wife got a 2003 Ford Explorer XLT 4 x 4 today for company car. It's set to automatically lock doors when it's taken out of park. She wants to disable it. Owners manual gives instructions on how to do it using the keyless entry keypad on the door - problem is this her vehicle has no keypad. It does have power locks with remotes though. Owners manual mentions no other way to do it......so how can it be done on one without the keypad on the door?

Any ideas? I'm sure it's some combination of doing something so many times while doing something else - but what?

Thanks for any help!

Well I have a 98 model and this is what it says in the handbook. It might work for you.

Make sure that the ant-theft system is not armed, the ignition is off and all the doors including the tailgate and its window are closed.
Steps 1 to 5 must be completed within 30 seconds or the procedure will have to be repeated. Before repeating wait 30 seconds.

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Press the door unlock button 3 times.
3. Turn the ignition off.
4. Press the door unlock button 3 times.
5. Turn the ignition on; the horn will sound.
6. Press th unlock button, then press the lock button. The horn will sound once if the auto-lock system has been deactivated or twice (one short, one long) if the system has been activated.
7. Turn the ignition off. The horn will sound once to confirm the procedure is complete.

No guarantees that this will work on the 2003 model but you never know.
