Ford Explorer 2003
Hi guys,

I looked everywhere if someones had the same problem on this forum to my problem, but I think my problems a bit different. When my FORD Explorer 2003 comes to a stop sometimes, and sometimes almost every time, the car RPM keeps dropping and rising when I came to a complete stop, and engine almost turned off, at random times, the engine turned of, only once, when driving 60km/h, the engine turned off completely. I am not sure what the problem is, but I already installed new plugs and new plug leads,

Can anyone please help me on how to trouble shoot this car, or if anyone knows what the problem is, I would be very grateful

Maybe a vacuum leak?

That sound like an indication of a low vacuum.

When you back off the throttle the vacuum drops. If it is operating with too low a vacuum to start you will get the symptoms you are describing.

With an Explorer your age, I'd replace all vacuum lines and vacuum hose clamps. They start to leak from age and the pinch clamps get weak. Avoid the aftermarket hoses and use bulk hose purchased from a dealer. The after markets tend to be a touch to large for the fittings.

When I did this I gained three inches of vacuum. And I never did get an engine speed increase when using ether to find a vacuum leak.
