When I first noticed I had an issue, it seemed to be coming from what I thought was the front end. First thing I thought was wheel bearing...Classic sings, turned the wheel one direction, sound would amplify, and almost completely disapate the other direction. So I got started with what I thought would be simple; as I got into the fix I noticed there was greese all over and a torn boot on the half shaft. Having 130,000 miles I decided I would breath some new life into the front end and replace drivers and passenger side wheel bears, strut assembly's, upper control arms, lower ball joints, tie rod ends, stabalizer links and the half shaft with the torn boot.
Finished this up over the weekend, and took it on a short drive. What I noticed was the growel was gone in the front, but was noticible in the rear end.
Went online to see if I could find any related issues; best I could come up with was changing the axil oil. Used recommended synthetic 75/140, ony to find the sound seemed to have gotten louder, which seems to increase or decrease when turning the wheel.
When I talked to the local garage, they said it sounded like the bearings in the axil, and they would be happy to take it in to work on it.
Not looking to sell a kiddney to make the sound go away, so could someone help point me in the right direction? Thought maybe starting with the rear wheel bearings.
