- 2003 Explorer Sport XLT
I've looked through a good number of previous discussions, and have not found any info that relates to my issue. I bought a 2003 Sport a month ago with only 107k miles on it. I have worked through all the things needed to bring it to a pretty nice ride, except for my last issue. When I bought the truck the OD light was blinking, although the truck seemed to run fine and go through all the gears with seemingly no issues I believe. Wanting to ward off any future trans problems I checked for codes and got the 0734 and 0735 which is an overdrive speed discrepancy between 4th and 5th gears by the code description. This may be caused by solenoid or valve body issues from what I understood. I cheaped out and bought a "refurbished" complete valve body off egay, and it arrived with a damaged top gasket, after replacing with a new one I installed it, and got the same blinking light, codes, and it would not shift out of 3rd gear. I removed it and sent it back, and bought one from Donny at Central Valve Bodies. I installed his the end of last week, and the truck seemed to shift well again, but the 734 and 735 codes came back again. Also there is a bit of a delay going into reverse, and I took it out of overdrive with the shifter button, it disengaged, but would not reengage without stopping and turning the truck off. Could it possibly be either the overdrive drum speed sensor, or the output shaft speed sensor, or both? Could it be wiring issue? I checked the wires and they seem to be ok, but have not pulled apart any plugs yet. I have a call in to Donny and am waiting for his reply. Any help to point me in good direction would be greatly appreciated.
