- 2003 ford ranger edge
Ok so here's what i got going on. i have a 2003 ranger and it was sitting for about a 5 months. when i went to start it the battery was dead. so i tired jumping it and it still seemed to not have enough juice to turn over. i then realized that the battery was shot. i just has bought the battery right before i parked it. after putting in a new battery i realized that the chime sound that it makes when you have you keys in the ignition and had a door open was on no matter if the doors were open or closed and it was doing this with no keys in the ignition. i watched some videos and learned that there is a sensor in the ignition cylinder. i popped the locking cylinder out and took the sensor out and let it hang and put the locking cylinder back in and hooked the battery back up and the chime is still going. i don't know if the sensor is tied into the GEM? ALSO the dome light is all of a sudden OPPOSITE! as in the dome light is off when the doors are open and on when the doors are closed. when i bought the truck years ago i removed both rear door sensors and replaced both front doors. i need some advice on where i should go from here. possible bad GEM? i don't know how to test it without replacing it. i feel as if this is to linked to be a coincidence and it being two separate issues that started at the same time. PLEASE HELP ME!
