2004 Aviator
Picked up a 2004 Aviator, which is completely unfamiliar. A project and it has many things that need fixing. The previous owner smoked a million cigarettes in it. I basically have ripped the entire interior out and plan to rebuild it custom.

You might want to look into an ozone generator to eliminate smells.

Welcome. When we purchased the 99 Sport my wife is driving the PO smoked in the truck, I got Febreeze spray & sprayed down the whole interior a couple times & you can not even tell some one smoked in the truck.

I smoke bombed it (that didn't work). Ripped the carpet out. I have had the windows down. Diluted tide in a spray bottle has helped also. I'm an ex smoker and smoke Juul now and it was bad. The PO must have smoked in it for 15 years. Anyway now it is a clean slate with everything ripped out. Now what to do with it? Bought it for really cheap from a salvaged auction. It smells much better now. Thank you for the welcome and the suggestions.

The ozone generators used are industrial units and O3 binds with odor causing substances. It is how a lot of odors are removed from places that have had smoke damage from fires. This also kills insects, bacteria etc. that helps to further eliminate smells. The device is put in cars while running with the fans on so it can eliminate smell issues in the vents. It might be worth a try to mop up any smells that are left.

Got almost all the smoke smell out. Picked up zep smoke eliminator spray for $5 from homedepot and it worked.
