The headlamps in my sons 2004 Explorer had become cloudy and also were allowing moisture in so I ordered replacements housings from Rock Auto. I purchased some TYC branded that are NSF certified, fit is great, look is great, but I have one question regarding light beam pattern. When aligning them I noticed that in the beam of light I am seeing what can be described as a crescent moon looking hot spot of light. It appears to be on the lower edge of the bulb cap that is in the housing. Bulbs are seated properly. Is this normal? I do not remember seeing this with the OE housings. Bulbs are Phillips Vision Plus bulbs, but these are the bulbs that were in the truck with the OE housings.
Anyone noticed this pattern in the light beam? I see it strongest when lights are shining on the garage door.
