Hi everyone, new to this forum and glad I found it as living in Australia with an American car people know nothing about is hard, haha.
Anyway I have a problem with the pedal. It's hard to take off smoothly, it's as if the first 1" of pedal travel is missing so it's hard when needing to take off a bit quicker without having the car jerk and screech the tires. You can achieve a smooth take off but have to be careful with the right foot. As it's my partners car she is sort of used to it but when I get in and drive it's just really annoying. Any help would be awesome,
Cheers Dane

You have an '04 which has an electronic throttle body. These 4.6 V8's let too much oil into the intake (probably via the drivers side valve cover which doesn't appear to have a PCV, yet attaches to the intake hose.)

This oil builds up residue at the throttle butterfly valve. Buy a can of throttle body cleaner (not carb cleaner) and a throttle body gasket. Remove the TB, spray it down and clean it, then put it back on. 20 minutes. This should fix your issue.

Thanks mate, will give it a go today

What Number4 suggested is exactly what I did today. I didn't take out my entire throttle body, but I took out the part with the butterfly valve and the throttle position sensor. It was caked up with oil residue badly, and so was my throttle body. After giving them both a good cleaning with some throttle/air intake cleaner, and cleaning my MAF sensor ( With MAF sensor cleaner!) the acceleration dramatically improved. If the spark plugs and air filter need changed, then do that too.

Just taken it apart, have it all a good clean and put back together, should I do that reset thing too by connecting power to neutral lead into the car that number4 shared the link for?

Yes, I believe that allows the computer to relearn the new idle.

Watch the whole video though. You need to drive it so the transmission learns it's shift points.

Too easy, well it's lunch time here and sunny so il go for a good drive, thanks again everyone!
