Greetings. I'm new to the forum. Found it through google last week. Read several posts having to do with the 'TEST' message coming up on the message display to everyone's surprise. Also to everyone's consternation concerning the codes. It came up on my message display after taking the battery out for about three hours to put a "hot shot" (quick charge) on it. The TEST message displayed after re-installing the battery and starting the car for the first time. In four years of ownership, I've never seen it before.

To get to the bottom line and this is where I need help please. During the past two months or longer, I've been experiencing certain electrical problems with the car. It's top of the line Mountaineer with all the whistles and bells. I bought it used from Carmax in 2008 with 54,000 miles on it. Been running flawlessly until a few months ago. It developed these problems: 'Door Ajar' light would come on and stay on until reset. Overhead consul light would stay on until car began moving forward about 10 mph., then dim and go out. Radio would stop playing immediately after engine shut down, rather than remaining on for the ten minute duration. Same problem for power windows etc. Driver side power door lock would not work. Keyless entry will not lock the car but will unlock the car. Key chime operates whenever key is in ignition. Driver Power seat settings would not remain set. Some other problems.

I did replace the battery Friday (4-6-12). The new battery cured some of the problems. I can definitely tell the boost in better acceleration from improved amperage to the injectors. It still has these problems: Overhead consul light stays on until car begins moving forward about 10 mph., then dims and goes out. Key chime still operates improperly. Power locks are erratic. Some others. Any Suggestions will be appreciated.

This sounds like the common broken wire in the front drivers door jamb. Pull the boot from the door and look for a broken black wire. There are threads on this issue in the forum.
