Hi Guys,
New Member. Just found the site and have already found very useful info.

Question: Am I missing a piece in the picture under the steering column. I don't think I should be able to see the wires like this. If so, anyone know what the piece is called and where to buy?

Thanks guys.

I think it's supposed to be like that, tilt your wheel down, does it go down & hit the trim that's there? That should tell ya.

Really?? Cuz it sure looks crappy. I sit high in the seat, so have to keep the tilt up. I sure hope it's not really this way, but oh well, no one really sees it besides me.

Thanks for the help.

aftermarket remote start or alarm would explain that I would think....

Oh wow. You're not kidding someone was in there.

It doesn't have remote start or aftermarket alarm, unless someone did have it, and then took it back out, and they sure left a crappy mess afterwards.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll try and go in there and clean it up a bit.

On my 01 I velcro'd a piece of black sheet rubber under it. Smooths out the appearance.

Haha. Hopefully the car hasn't been GTA'd.

Who knows.....I did buy it used.

Did you check CARFAX before buying it?

Did you check CARFAX before buying it?

Hell yes I did. It was clean, no accidents, nothing. Only 1 owner too.

I asked the dealer when I bought it and he said it was normal, BS stealerships.

I just redid the wires, put some more electrical tape, and zip tied them back up, so now it looks good. Must've been some sort of alarm or something.

Oh well, truck runs great, so I'm happy.

Seriously, that needs an inspection.

Can you take a picture of that area with the panel removed?

Seriously, that needs an inspection.

You really think it's need attention? Nothing electrical is wrong, as in I'm having no problems with the truck or anything.

I asked the dealer, he said he doesn't know. It would've been the previous owner who did something, and it's not like I can call them up and ask.

Until something goes wrong, knock on wood, I think it's fine. As I said, I re-taped everything and now it looks normal.

If you have any major concerns, or think something horrible could happen, I'd like to know.

Thanks guys.

Something happened there... those wires didn't just fall out or fall apart. That's a very sensitive area, airbag, cruise control, gages, etc... You don't think you should know what happened?

those wires have the same colors as a tow hitch. maybe some sort of aftermarket trans brake for towing ?

its not stock, ford does'nt use wires like that
