We just purchased a 2005 Ford Explorer XLT about 4 days ago. Everything seems to be working properly however we are having an interested problem that started two days ago.

When the stereo is set to AM/FM mode everything plays great, however when we switch to the CD setting the sound does not play correctly. The instruments and background music play fine, but the voice and treble sound completely muffled and quiet.

Does anyone have any idea what might cause this? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

*EDIT* I forgot to add, I recently had trouble ejecting a CD receivig the "EJ ERR" message, but it eventually came out an hour later.

Welcome! If you bought it from a dealer, have them get you a new one. It's worth keeping your OEM if you choose, so I'd not get it fixed, get a new one.

Was it a private party sale?

Here is a shot in the dark, but check to see if there is a way to adjust the treble, im not 100% on this but alot of newer oem cd playes have a preset equalizer where you can set it to Rock,Rap,etc. So check your owners manual and see if you can adjust it, if not just do as the second poster said.

That's a troubled stereo... they just bought it too. Some of them are easy to fix, but if they just got it... if it were an older purchase, well fix it... but 4 days? They need to get a new one.
