Anyone know where one can be found, or have a part number for it?

Mine is wonky, disassembled it, but don't see anything that is bad.

I guess if there's no replacement parts I'll have to go to some junkyards to get a few, and hope that one is still good.

My lights keep coming on, going off, along with cluster/heater lighting cutting in and out. I've isolated it to the dimmer...found that if I squeeze it, or move the connector up and down i can replicate the problem.

The only thing I can think of is to degrease, put new grease in and reassemble. Not sure what grease I'd need...obviously something non nonconductive...

Thanks in advance.

You know you could have done a quick google search and found an answer quicker than posting on here.
Anyway your answer is ford part number
7L1Z-11691-BA.
You can get it from sneedparts.com, amazon.com or copy and paste the part number on google and choose a site. When I looked the price was about $25 plus shipping from sneedparts and $35 from amazon with free prime shipping.

Hope that helps.

Edit correct part is 6L2Z11691BAA

Thanks! Yeah, google is quicker, but not wholly accurate....i'd rather get an answer that's correct from someone who's actually done this than some number that may not be correct...

Again, thanks. Will be getting mine in a few days :)

So just wanted to follow up...the part I ordered from Amazon fits, but doesn't work.

Lights still don't come on when I unlock the doors with the fob, OR when the doors are opened
I can turn on the lights by turning the switch to the full right, but that's the only way they will come on.

Part number for what I have is 1S11295

I entered in the number in post two into amazon and that was what showed up.

I searched in google and found this place: 7L1Z-11691-BA - Ford Parts Giant

But it says it won't fit my '06.

Ideas? Thanks!

One last followup: The part number in post 2 is for an Expedition. That's the one I ordered and it doesn't work.

The one I linked in post 5 is the proper one for an '06-10 Explorer.

I updated the part number to the correct one as an edit.
What I find weird is sneedford lists the original part number as the correct one for a 06-10 explorer. I'm sorry I posted the wrong part number and thank you for following up to correct it.

No worries! Thankfully Amazon has a decent return policy. Plus, the other one is about ten bucks cheaper LOL.

I'll also be ordering a window motor...my driver door's motor is getting lazy LOL.

So i finally order the 6L2Z and I'll be damned if it doesn't work either.

I know you originally did a squeeze test on your dimmer control to isolate it, but are you having any other door lock issues? There are micro switches in them to tell the computer if door is open or closed. It is amazing how many side effects there are when a closed door reports that it is open!

Not as far as I know...everything seems to be working as they ought to.

What do i need to do to be for sure? Both of the replacement rheostat switches only do one thing; when the wheel is turned far right, all interior/puddle lamps come on as they should.

There is no dimming of the cluster/center stack, and the interior lights won't come if a door is opened.

Thanks for the reply :)

some more clues in the last post:

When the illumination of the hvac system flickers, does the instrumentation message centre also flicker?

Have you checked for a bad pin/wire connection at the dimmer switch?

Is the autolamp/sunload sensor free of obstruction?

A bit ago, I had a hunch that if I discoed the battery for a bit (was doing another bit of electrical work anyway) and let the system "reset" like one might do to clear codes on an older model, maybe the new rheostat dimmer would work.

Well, it did. So for clarity, the part number 6L2Z-11691-BAA IS indeed the right part for an '06-10 Exploder/Mounty and coreesponding years of Sport Trac.

If it doesn't seem to work as mine did at first, disco the negative batt cable and pump the brake pedal a few times.

Many thanks to those who've posted trying to help..appreciate yous!

Now, the search is back on for the headlight switch bulb, or an LED replacement..
