Hi everyone,

I need some help with something. I have a 2006 Explorer EB.
I've been noticing that the floor on the drivers side has been getting wet. It's actually closer to where the front seat "legs" are, rather than near the pedals.
I dried it up the other day and this morning I lifted the floor mat and felt that the carpet was starting to get damp again.
I should note that I do not have a sunroof and a few days ago I took it to the dealership and had the coolant system pressure tested with everything checking out ok. Also the liquid is for sure water and not coolant.
It has been raining for the past week, therefore, I'm wondering if its a drain port or channel somewhere that might be plugged.

Any suggestions?.......Thanks!

When it rains water will get inside the doors and there is drain holes in the bottom of the door.

It isn't uncommon for junk to build up and plug the drain holes. There is a couple of ways you can go.

You can simply take something and clear the drain hole from the bottom of the door. That might or might not work depending on whats plugging it up.

The most effective way is to pull the door panel and clean the crap out of the bottom of the door. It's more work, but it's the best way.

could be coolant from the heater?

I checked under the door and couldn't see any drain holes....just two plastic tabs.....is that them????

Also, it isn't coolant, it is straight water.

They are between the rubber and the outside of the door. You can't see it unless you look behind the rubber weatherstrip. I have one I know of that is at the very back of the door and it is a slot, not just a hole.

I found a drain hole and it appears to be completely clear. I don[t have a clue what this may be. The carpets along the side walls (leading up to the centre console and under the dash) are all dry. Even my rubber rain floor mats are dry on top. It's as if there was a hole on the bottom of the vehicle allowing water to splash up.........I just can't seem to find the source.

I had this problem once in a Toyota Supra. This was about 20ish years ago, if I remember correctly it had something to do with the heating system.

I initially thought that it may be the heater core, which typcally leaks on the passenger side, but the substance is not coolant, just basic water.

i am having the same issue on a 99 eddie bauer. it's water, not antifreeze from the heater core. I pulled the cowl and there is no debris. I pulled the carpet back I had someone hose the car down but I cannot find any drips. it seems to be coming up through the floor but the chassis is rust-free....

On a dry day, you could hose the bottom of the vehicle and pull the carpet up, see if any water seeps in.
I had to patch up a wielded seam once, that was letting water in.
