Hi Folks,

Something strange happened last night ....the truck started fine as usual, got to my destination fine....then when I left to get back home it started but making a strange noise, with little power.....and finaly stalled......tried starting many times....no go.....called for a tow, brought it to the garage....the mechanic couldn't start it....left it over night, then this morning, it started like a charm....the mechanic tried many times and started without any hesitation, ran the scanner test.....no codes and no history.......!!!!!!!......

As anything like this ever happened to any of you?

Any ideas on what could be the cause?

2006, V6, 100K

Thanks for any help

ya it happened on my chevy trucks they stall when started i reset
the bat still did not work. had the wife call the tow truck and waited
for her to come meet me so after an hour and a half the the truck
showed up. so just for kicks i tried to start it guess what it started
i think my truck thought i was stealing it. drove fine to the dealer
they could not find any problems

Sounds like a fuel pump problem. I had a Chrysler 300M that would just die for no reason, like it was out of gas. When parked, it would idle really rough if at all, and die when I put it in gear. Lots of misfire codes, though.

Mystery solved!

I was the fuel shut off, inertia switch.....

How did this come?

Mystery solved!

The mechanic told me that the inertia switch is very sensitive ....a bump or pothole is enough to trigger the shut off....due to the fact that we have beautiful roads in this part of the third world (Quebec, Canada).....he just pressed the button and it started......

It took the mechanic a month to figure that out? :hammer:

nope...the first time it happened, about as month ago , the car slept in the garage, then started like a charm the day after....they checked if any codes, fuel pressure, wiring, couldn't find anything...

Yesterday it did it again ...cranking but not starting ....so I called a towing...when he showed up, I told him about the issue....then he opened the passenger door press the reset button, and started again.....there should be some kind of code or warning light when that gizmo goes off....

Many years ago, my high school automotive group won an automotive competition that way in less than a minute. Back then, we were taught that if a fuel injected vehicle would turn over but not start, to immediately go to the fuel shutoff switch and reset it. Brings back memories... glad to hear that is all it was.
