2006 Explorer 6CD/MP3 Display

The display on my radio is gone and the Ford dealer wants big $ to replace the radio. I can buy a replacement unit, but how do I know it is compatible, given the many variations available? I was told by a salvage yard I needed the serial # off of my radio. Can I see this without removing the radio? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The issue with the display is just bad solder joints, you can just open it up and fix them instead of purchasing another unit. Honestly, if you don't want to fix it, I would just purchase a double din aftermarket unit with Bluetooth for less or the same price as a salvage unit.

I agree with Gibby - if you don't want to dig into it and fix the thing then aftermarket units with bluetooth is the way to go. Technology moves way too fast. You'll end up a LOT happier with aftermarket and will end up with more features too.
