Hello All,
I have the Explorer above and am wondering if anyone has replaced this? It's starting to weep and leaks never get better. Does it drop off the oil filter bracket or would I have to take that off as well? it is not clear from the diagram I got off of fordparts.com. Thanks

Is it leaking coolant or oil? The reason I ask is I'm seeing a coolant drip from mine. I'm in the process of changing one of the hoses that has a leak at the opposite end. I've got my fingers crossed that will do it but I suspect the surface rust on the oil cooler goes deeper than that.

From the looks of it, the oil cooler should unscrew from the bracket, but I can't be sure either.

Wife's car and it was weeping coolant but went out one morning and there was a large puddle where it parks. Called her and told her to take to the shop, couple blocks from her work and for heaven's sake watch the coolant temp. Turned into a leak and had them do it. Didn't get hit too bad from the shop, considering the cold snap here and no heated garage to do the work myself, so I never found out how that comes off...

I'm fortunate in that I have both space to work and the leak is small enough that it doesn't have to be done right this minute.

Replacing the one coolant line (Part #1L2Z6A642FA ) helped, but it still has a leak at the other line. This line isn't available from Ford, but is straight enough to use stock hose cut to length. That's next.

While I was replacing the first line, I pulled the oil filter. The oil cooler comes off with a 13 mm Allen bolt that goes up the center of it.
