I have been reading through threads and have not found the answer I am looking for so I registered to ask

on the low valve for the a/c if I connect the pressure guage to read what it is it doesnt read anything.

yet when I depress the pin you can tell its under pressure and air/freon comes squirting out.

is my guage faulty? or is it suppose to do that

and this is with the truck turned off or on

could it be that the pin is not being depressed when the guage is attached or would I not get any presure anyways if the compresor is not working?

I feel it should read something as it is under pressure when you press teh pin down, but I could be wrong

thanks

If pressure is being released when pressing the pin by hand then it should be reading on your pressure gauge. Sounds like it's time for a new one.

thanks. I finally figured out that whoever originally did it over filled it quite a bit. so /i drained it out to acceptable levels. I did notice though the compressor face doesnt rotate so the compressor must be bad. its a work truck, and they wont fix it cause of the a/c but the compressor runs the defroster also correct?

How do you know your AC is at an acceptable level without putting a pressure gauge on it?

And yes the AC does run in conjunction with the defroster. When the weather starts turning colder you can pull the AC fuse and then it won't run with the defroster. I modified my heater/AC control switch with a Dremel tool so that my AC never runs with the defroster.
