2006 explorer, the light for the automatic gearshifter. The strip where P,D,R appear to be precise. Does not light up and in the dark not good. Is there a bulb to replace?
Thanks
There is a bulb wether or not replaceable not certain I would imagine so however very easy to check! The silver trim around shifter pops out and 2 screws under the center console then that whole assembly you pop up and you will be able to look inside and see
the bulb is located on the under side and i think its a 1/4 turn to get it out. (its in a tight spot so you may need to use needle nose pliers)
the bulb itself may be hard to get out too. my trick for that is to get some 3m professional double sided tape (its a silicone style tape gorilla glue makes one too) and wrap a piece around the tips of pliers to get a better grip without braking the bulb (after you remove the protective covering on the tape try and not close the pliers or you will have to start over)
I just had to replace this bulb for my 2006 Explorer XLT but the 74 bulb was too big. After some online searching, found a video showing the Sylvania 2721 as the bulb to use. For me that was the right size. Just adding this here for anyone else searching for the bulb.
