2006 mercury mountaineer

help, I have a 2006 mercury mountaineer. upon a cold start it makes a screach noise along with a tapping sound. I removed the serpentine belt, but the same thing happens. The tapping sound probably is a cracked exhaust manifold but would it also make the screach sound. thank you

You need to be a little more specific about the sound and where it is coming from and if that is the onlt time it is doing that

yea its tuff to tell where noise is coming from but the tapping is probably exhaust manifold and removing belt no accessorys are in play just wondering what makes the screech noise on cold start. quiets down when starting with warm engine.
