2006 Ranger Evaporator Leak

Bought an 06 Ranger with a non-working AC.

I added some r134a and it lasted all of about 10 minutes.

I could hear hissing /gurgling coming from the evaporator box.

Im hoping to replace the evaporator and accumulator and pay a local AC guy to vacuum and charge the system.

My questions:

Do I have to pull the dash to replace the evaporator core?

Are there any surprises I should be aware of?

Robert - What did you end up doing with your EX? I have an 2006, AC stopped working, brought it in to my local guy and he told me my evaporator needs to be replaced. Said the dash needed to come off, probably 7 hours of labor, over $1000. Then he hinted that this may be the first of many problems that my AC may start having, as the parts tend to start going at the same time.
