Which gear ratio? (Check the door sticker for the axle code) 2wd or 4x4? Trailer towing package or not?

Check page 201 of your owner's manual. Depending on which rear end and which drivetrain you have, it could be anywhere from 3110 to 5390 lbs.

3.55 2wd 4.0 liter towing pkg

For '06, the class III/IV towing package on the V-6 included the 3.73 rear end. If it has the 3.55, it has the standard Class II towing package that came standard on ALL '06 Explorers. In your case, the truck is rated for 3110 lbs max trailer weight and 7700 lbs gross combined weight rating. Hope that helps!
