2006 Limited V8
Hi All.

Ever since I signed the loan papers (of course) on my 2006 Limited V8, I have noticed that when I come to a gradual stop, it will lunge forward at the slightest release of brake pressure. This feels quite dangerous.

Thankfully I don't make it a habit to stop at someone's bumper, but if I let someone borrow the truck, I'd be nervous it could happen to them.

Is this common and does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi I have a 2007 mountaineer that started doing the same a week after purchase & it is scary. Ford is aware of the problem according to various TSB's issued. The six speed transmission needs to be "retaught" from what I have gathered. It is a computer control thing.
I am on the Big Island of Hawaii and our auto dealer does not have good service techs they are incapable of something this involved. My mustang was ruined when they installed the oil filter incorrectly allowing a massive oil leak, another time on my towncar they left the power steering cap off of the reservoir.
Any one out there on the Big Island has the "bump stop" issue Ford refers to in TSB 08-24-4???

So it sounds like I will need to pay for the dealership to reprogram the TCM.

Here's a few links to some threads I just found which sound like the same issue...

I have 37k miles on my 06 so it's out of the factory warranty. I have a 60 day warranty from the Chrysler dealer I bought it from. I wonder if they would fix this.

What is the difference, aside from who pays for it, between a recall and a TSB?

I'm thinking about buying an ESP offered by www.fordwarrantys.com. I was looking at the ExtraCare package with $100 deductible for 4 years/48k miles for $1270 after a $190 promotion code.

The details of the ESP says it covers "Transmission module, external". Does anyone think this issue would be part of it's coverage?

It sounds like you are having the problem that is "fixed" by the trans reprogram from TSB 8-24-4.

I know that the "bumper to bumper" warranty covers the cost of this, but doubt that an ESP would.

Now if you are purchasing the ESP from a dealer, ask for an Oasis report to see if any trans work has been done on the original warranty. You may be able to negotiate the cost of the TSB fix at the time of ESP purchase.
